Diocese of Colombo Honors and Helps 62 Widows

Recently Believers Church Diocese of Colombo organized gift distribution programs in honor of widows to mark International Widows Day, observed on 23rd June every year.

The diocese invited needy widows to take part in the commemorative gatherings which were held in different places. Through these programs, 15 widows received a saree and a dry ration pack which included 5 kg rice, 1kg sugar, 1 kg dhal and a canned salmon, 5 widows were provided with lunch, refreshments and a tiffin box, 32 widows were gifted with dry rations, bed sheets and mosquito nets and 10 widows were given dry ration packets.

A total of 62 widows received the gifts distributed by the church. They were very grateful to the church for the help and they were especially happy to know that there was a day dedicated solely to honor widows all around the world.

“I consider myself blessed to have received this kind help. This dry ration packet will help me survive for two weeks. Thank you so much”, said a widow.
