Chennai is now battling against the worst rain that hit the metropolitan city over the past 100 years. The houses and buildings are flooded. All schools and colleges have been closed for days and exams have been postponed. People are being rescued and restored to shelter camps from their waterlogged houses with the help of Indian army and other rescue teams. But, the unavailability of essential supplies like food, water and milk makes their survival in these more vulnerable. Different NGO’s, organizations and individuals are actively working in the affected areas to bring out effective relief among the victims.
Believers Church Diocese of Chennai also was able to reach out to the victims with immediate help. On 22nd November 2015, the church was able to distribute food supplies to 200 neediest families in a flood-hit village. Each kit contained 8 kg rice, 500 g salt, 500 g tamarind, 250 kg chilli powder, half liter oil and one liter phenoil in it.
Believers Church volunteers are actively working in the affected villages of Chennai, Cuddalore and Chidambaram Districts to reach out to the victims with relief.
