Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Chennai distributed dry rations and essential vegetables to needy families at three different locations in Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu on 5 June 2021.
In light of the prevailing pandemic situation, under the guidance of HG Dr. Samuel Mor Theophilus Episcopa, the priest and members of St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church parish located at the Diocesan campus and the Hope for Children staff have planned to provide one-time meal and dry ration kits to the poor and needy in the surrounding villages.
HG Dr. Samuel Mor Theophilus Episcopa helped in handing out dry ration kits to few most needy families in the community. After which, a team from the diocese went to two nearby villages where they distributed dry ration kits and vegetables. The beneficiaries were overwhelmed with joy to receive the items and thanked the church for extending help to them. Altogether, 40 needy families were benefited through this distribution program.
Nesamma said, “I am a widow. I lost my husband three years ago. I was surviving on a meagre income I earned from working in a garment factory. But due to lockdown the company is closed down and I do not have any other way to make a living. I was really in need of ration items and vegetables. I am truly grateful to the church for reaching out to me during this pandemic.”
