Believers Church Diocese of Chennai inaugurated its first tailoring unit in a rural village for underprivileged women on 20th October 2014. 25 women enrolled into the center that day.
This center will provide a six-month long course on tailoring and other embroidery works for the women. After the completion of their course, these women will be able to make their own income with their skills and support their families.
Mr. M. Kalai Arasu (MLA) inaugurated the unit and appreciated the Church for its efforts taken to empower women in society. The villagers also thanked the Church for opening this center.
The diocese plans to open additional vocational training centers in the coming days to help break the cycle of poverty.
