Diocese of Chennai Extends Help to 65 Widows

As part of International Widows Day celebrations, Believers Church Diocese of Chennai held gift distribution programs in two places on 23rd and 25th June, 2016 respectively. A Women’s Fellowship team organized these programs, where kitchen utensils were gifted to widows living in poverty.

Around 130 people attended the program conducted on June 23. Mr. Kumar (Inspector of Police) was the chief guest of the program. The diocese distributed pressure cookers to 31 widows on this day.

The chief guests for the second program conducted on June 25 were Mr. Natrajan (the local president, Mahabalipuram), Mr. Varadharajan (Local Panchayat Leader, Mahabalipuram). Around 60 people participated in this program where pressure cookers were distributed to 34 widows.

A total of 65 widows received the gifts from the church. Expressing their gratitude for the gifts, they returned home with smiles on their faces.
