Believers Church, Diocese of Chennai helped flood victims in a village on 15th November 2015.
The heavy rainfall during the annual northeast monsoon resulted in disastrous flood in Chennai, which displaced over 1.8 million people and caused the death of over 500 people. Though, a majority of the people has been shifted to safer places, many are still caught stuck inside their houses, without being able to go anywhere. The rates of food supplies, fuels and water has also gone higher by adding more struggle to their life.
Realizing their situation, the church decided to help them. That day, the church reached to one such village with relief work. The villagers here were very poor who lived in small mud-made huts and tents. But, the floodwater has destroyed their shelters completely and now, they are homeless. So, the church fed 100 most affected people and distributed mosquito nets to 200 families there as an immediate help.
In the days to come, the church will be doing more relief works among the affected people to provide them immediate help and relief.
