Believers Church Diocese of Chandigarh distributed relief supplies to flood affected people in the state of Jammu and Kashmir on 18th September 2014. They distributed kits containing 10 kg wheat flour, 2 kg pulses, 1kg rice and salt to 300 people from 12 different villages.
Heavy rainfall on 5th September 2014 submerged over 100 villages in Jammu and Kashmir in water. Many lost their lives and others lost their houses and entire livelihood. The people in the 12 villages desperately needed some help but because of the scope of the disaster, their villages were still unreached by other rescue operations. Many did not have anything to eat or drink.
So, the ration kit distribution was a great blessing and they thanked the church for showing such a compassion towards them. “After so many days, I am going to cook food and give to my children,” said one beneficiary happily. “Thank you so much for providing these items which will solve our hunger in the coming days.”
Believers Church meets the needs of those in crisis through disaster relief and social welfare programs.
