The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in Nepal has hit the poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups, especially those dependent on daily labor, very hard. Responding to this crisis, on 1 June 2021, St. Paul Believers Eastern Church parish in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Birtamod distributed dry ration items to 11 needy families that have been badly affected by the pandemic.
Each family received a dry ration kit consisting of 20 kg rice, 2 kg dal, 2 kg salt, 1 kg sugar and 1 litre oil. The beneficiaries were daily wage laborers, widows and elderly persons.
A widow by name Devi Thakuri said, “I am happy to receive this help during this pandemic. I was running out of rice and was worried about putting food on the table. But you provided me not only rice but other items too. God bless your kind heart.”
