To commemorate World Environment Day, Bridge of Hope in Believers Church Diocese of Agartala organized rallies, tree plantation drives and awareness programs on June 6, 2016.
Bridge of Hope staff and children marched in the rallies carrying placards and banners underlining the importance of environmental protection. The rallies passed through market areas and main streets, drawing the attention of office goers, shopkeepers, passersby and the shoppers. Many of them appreciated the Bridge of Hope for carrying out the awareness rallies.
On the same day public programs were arranged where the Bridge of Hope staff shared about the importance of planting trees and preserving forests. They encouraged the parents of Bridge of Hope children to plant trees and avoid the usage of plastics to make the world a better place to live in.
They also carried out mass plantation drives in several places and on that day they planted more than thousand tree saplings.
Mr. Binoy Jamatia (Agriculture Officer) was invited as a Chief Guest in one of the places. He thanked the Bridge of Hope for inviting him to participate in such a meaningful program. He said, “Many people are still ignorant about environmental degradation. It is very good that you have arranged this program as this is the high time we spread awareness about environmental protection among people”.
