Winter marks a season of further suffering to the poor in Nepal who struggle with limited resources to survive the cold, thus leaving them vulnerable to serious cold weather-related illnesses.
To help the vulnerable survive the harsh winter weather, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu in Nepal organized a blanket distribution program on 1 January 2023.
On this day, the diocese reached out to 40 displaced families in Chitwan district with warm fiber blankets. These families are extremely poor and live from hand to mouth. They extended their gratitude to the church for helping them with blankets during this harsh winter.
Maya Gurung, one of the recipients, said, “I have husband and two small children. My husband is physically disabled; he cannot stand and walk. I’m the sole bread winner of the family and sometimes I even have to beg from others to take care of the needs of my family. I really thank the church from the bottom of my heart for blessing me with this great gift”.
