The Bridge of Hope and Women’s Fellowship Departments in Believers Church Dhemaji Diocese observed World AIDS Day on 1st December 2010. Bridge of Hope had AIDS awareness programs at the project centers in Lakhimpur and Majuli Districts.
Mr. Khogen Singh, the special speaker in one center, interacted with the students and audience and explained how AIDS spreads and how harmful it is to humanity. He counseled the crowd to be aware of the disease in order to prevent it.
Chottani Bridge of Hope staff and students participated in a rally, carrying placards and marching through the town.Observers on the roadside learned about how AIDS spreads and how to prevent the disease.
The Women’s Fellowship team observed AIDS day by visiting a hospital and praying for the patients. Each team member wore a red ribbon to mark AIDS day and also gave out ribbons to the hospital staff.
They invited Dr. Atul Sharma to the Dhemaji Diocese Believers Church campus to speak about AIDS. He explained the disease and its effects to those who gathered and instructed the people in how they should care for AIDS patients.
Similar programs were held elsewhere in India as well. Spreading AIDS awareness is of extreme importance to protect the next generation from the deadly diseases. Each year, Believers Church raises awareness events through various local offices and projects.
