The Believers Church Minor Seminary in Delhi conducted a Literacy Rally on World Literacy Day, 8th September 2011. The main object of the rally was to raise awareness about education. Local primary school teachers also participated in this event.
The literacy rally started at the Believers Church Gurgaon Minor Seminary and went to Dhumaspur and Nayagaon. The Minor Seminary students and staff were carrying plaques with slogans about the value of education. The rally ended at the Government School in Nayagaon, where they had a literacy program. The village leaders, Mr. Billaram and Mr. Sim Raj, were invited to inaugurate the program.
A speech was given by Rev. Fr. John, communicating Believers Church’s burden to help the illiterate and give them a good education. He also talked about the value of the Believers Church literacy book, which is available in Hindi.
The Minor Seminary students presented songs and skits, which made the schoolchildren happy. The children were asked, “How many of you are willing to bring awareness about literacy to illiterate children?” All the students raised their hands. Seeing the program, the villagers were excited and appreciated Believers Church. The government school principal closed the program with a word of thanks.
