The village water was highly contaminated, causing disease and giving people kidney stones. So Believers Church Lucknow Diocese took initiative to distribute 40 BioSand water filters on 12th February 2013.
250 people gathered for the distribution program, including various government officials. Mr. Badri Prasad Kushwaha (Gram Pradhan) was the chief guest.
“In this hilly area where our people are deprived of many of the facilities,” he said, “I really thank Believers Church for the good initiative taken to reach to this remote area.”
Other special guests included Mr. Shiv Shankar Yadav (District secretary of Panchayat), Dr. G.K. Panday (CSC), Mr. Rajan Lal Tripathi (District police officer) and Mr. Anil Kumar (regional manager of EVOS).
The community members were very happy to receive their own filters. Anil, leader of the Lucknow Diocese BioSand water filter department, showed how the filters could make filthy water clear and pure.
A villager named Gauri explained that his children used fall ill often. “But now on there won’t be any kind of waterborne diseases in my family as the water is clean and free from germs and bacteria,” he said. “I am very much happy to receive this gift for my family.”
The safe water project of Believers Church improves the health of thousands of communities.
