Believers Church Diocese of Odisha inaugurated 20 new houses in two different villages between 20th and 22nd August 2014 for Cyclone Phailin-affected families.
Cyclone Phailin destroyed over 200,000 houses in Odisha in October 2013, leaving many homeless and living under temporary tarp tents.
These 20 families were among those who lost everything when the cyclone hit their village. They needed a house of their own, but did not have the resources to rebuild. So, the church took initiative to provide a shelter for them.
The inauguration program was held at two different places and Mr. Jakub Jani (MLA) was the chief guest in one of the program. He handed over the keys to the beneficiaries and appreciated the church for showing concern towards their need.
The beneficiaries were happy and expressed their gratitude towards the church for rebuilding new houses for them.
Believers Church plans to build 300 brick homes for cyclone victims through it’s Cyclone Phailin Rehabilitation Project.
