Cyclone Amphan Relief: 150 Worst-Hit Families Receive Aid

On 22 June 2020, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kolkata held relief supply distribution in one of the Islands of West Bengal.

The diocese under the leadership of HG Justin Mor Thomas Episcopa Episcopa distributed relief supplies to 150 worst-hit families that were selected from five different islands, Pathar Pratima, Gobindorampur, Dakhin Laxminarayanpur, Kishorinagar and Kshetramohanpur. A majority of the beneficiaries were widows.

Each family received relief items such as rice, pulses, soap, salt, lamp, matchbox, cloth and facemask. The distribution was done in coordination with the local police authorities and panchayat leaders.

The joy in the face of beneficiaries was evident as they received the help materials.

The double disaster of Covid-19 and Cyclone Amphan have made an unparalleled impact on the livelihood of the people in West Bengal. In the midst of this crisis, Believers Eastern Church is doing everything possible to help the affected communities get back on their feet.
