In a heartfelt effort to combat poverty, uplift living standards, and promote sustainable economic growth, the Hope for Children project of the Itahari Diocese organized a piglet distribution program on 15th February 2025. The initiative aimed to empower underprivileged families by providing them with the means to build a stable livelihood.
A total of 12 families benefited from the program, receiving not only one male and one female piglet each, but also comprehensive training in pig rearing. The two-day training sessions, conducted by experienced veterinarians, equipped the beneficiaries with essential knowledge on pig health, growth management, insurance, and feeding practices. This holistic approach ensures that families can maximize the potential of their livestock and secure a sustainable source of income.
The program was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Dipendra Limbu, the Executive Ward Chairman of Ward No. 3, who lauded the church’s ongoing efforts to support marginalized communities. To further assist the beneficiaries, the distributed piglets were insured under a government scheme, offering 80% compensation in case of any loss—a safety net to boost confidence and resilience among the participants.
Dikimaya Magar, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Hope for Children project, saying, “I am truly thankful for this support. These piglets are not just animals but a source of hope for my family’s future. I promise to take good care of them and multiply this blessing.”
Through initiatives like these, the Itahari Diocese continues to live out its mission of love, service, and transformation, bringing light and hope to communities in need.
