Amid lockdown, the distribution of relief materials among the poor, under-privileged and marginalised sections of the populace by Believers Eastern Church in India continues.
Here is an account of relief activities carried out by the church on 24 April 2020. The distributions were done with the approval from local police and government officials and safety protocols advised by government were followed during the distributions.
Diocese of Lucknow extended help to 400 persons in the form of grocery items, facemasks and hand washing soaps. Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mr. Pahlavi Mishra, SHO and other police officials were part of the distribution.
The priest and members of St Thomas Believers Eastern Church in Diocese of Mandla distributed dry ration kits to 35 needy families in a remote village.
A local parish in Diocese of Chennai took initiative to help 50 poor people with 5 kg rice, 1kg dal, vegetables and facemasks.
Dry ration distributions were held at two places in Diocese of Solan by Bridge of Hope. A total of 40 needy families were provided with rice, oil, salt and pulses. In one of the places, ward commissioner helped in handing over the relief items to people.
In Diocese of Chennai, under the initiative of Bridge of Hope (Hope for Children), food distributions were held in two places where freshly-cooked meals were distributed to over 110 people by the staff of Bridge of Hope.
