In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Colombo is actively involved in providing much needed help to the poor and vulnerable who have been affected by the nationwide curfew imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.
On 3 April 2020, the diocese helped 100 families of daily wage workers with dry ration packs. The distribution was done in co-ordination with local authorities and police.
On the same day, a priest of the church distributed rice, vegetables and other essential items to families of daily wager laborers.
On 5 April 2020, compassion teams from Colombo Diocese visited 5 places where with the help of local administration and police they distributed dry rations including rice, dal, sugar and other essentials to the families of rubber plantation workers and daily wagers who have lost their jobs due to the lockdown.
On 7 April 2020, dry ration packets were distributed to needy families under the initiative of one of the parish priests.
