Believers Church Diocese of Jorhat organized a community development program in an Assam-Nagaland border village on 30th August 2015.
The people here are the victims of the communal violence, which occurred last year. Almost everything they have owned was destroyed in that violence. Now, they are still struggling hard to regain their normal life. So, the church held this program to help them by providing with some life-sustainable gifts.
Shri. Atwa Munda (Forest Minister) and Shri. Gaurav Gogoi (Member of Parliament) were invited as the chief guests. They were happy and appreciated the church for showing concern towards the needs of these people.
Later, they distributed 125 BioSand Water Filters, 70 bundles of tin sheets, 5 bicycles, 100 mosquito nets, sewing machines, goats and pigs among the villagers. The same day, the church has also dedicated a newly installed well to the villagers.
All of them thanked the church for the great help they have received.
The church empowers the destitute and the downtrodden by meeting their needs through its Poverty Alleviation project.
