Believers Church Sikkim installed a water tank through its Clean Water project on 9th June 2012 in Pragatigram, Darjeeling. The guests present for the occasion were Mr. D.B. Rai (President of Godavari Sangh Club), Mr. Anu Rai (Vice President of Godavari Sangh Club of Pragatigram) and Rev. Fr. Franklin (Administrator of Believers Church Sikkim).
There is great scarcity of water in this area and people have to buy water for their daily needs. Pragatigram had only one pipe line for water supply, and there was no tank to store the water that was available. Seeing the difficulties of this place, the local leader of Believers Church’s clean water projects took initiative to construct and install the tank.
Since the water tank was installed, more than 600 hundred people have used the water. The villagers are very glad to have the water tank so that they can get water at any time. They expressed their gratitude towards Believers Church leaders for taking initiative to install the water tank.
Mr. D.B. Rai said, “This (tank) is a benefit to the people of Pragatigram. About 95% of the population of Pragatigram is under poverty line. Therefore they could not afford to construct a water tank of their own. On behalf of villagers of Pragatigram I would like to thank Rev. Fr. Solomon (district pastor) and all the leadership of Believers Church.”
