Clean Water Brings Joy to a Village in Nepal

Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu in Nepal inaugurated 2 water supply facilities in a village which had no access to piped water.

Located next to the Chure hills in Rautahat district, this remote village is inhabited by indigenous and backward tribes and was deprived of infrastructure services such as roads, electricity, health care, clean drinking water facility, and education as well.

The only source of drinking water for the whole village was a streamlet running through the village. Trudging to and from this streamlet had been part of the daily grind for the residents of this village for as long as they can remember. But that too would dry up in the summer and spring seasons, forcing villagers to walk two kilometers to fetch water from another village.

Realizing the villagers’ desperate need for safe and usable drinking water. Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu installed two water supply facilities. The source of water is a spring in Chure hills, located 2 kilometers away from the village. The church has built a reservoir near the spring and from there the water is being supplied to 56 families.

The water supply facilities were inaugurated with the prayer and blessing of the diocesan secretary on 30 March 2022. During the inauguration program, he also explained to the people about the importance of saving water and maintaining the water taps.

The villagers were so happy and extended their gratitude to the church for the installation of the water taps. Pramila, one of the residents, said, “Only the people of this village know how we struggled for water on a daily basis. We requested the officials of the ward many times to provide water supply taps in this village but no one heard our voices. Due to lack of water, we were forced to drink dirty water from the stream. Today, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu has added happiness to our lives. Our indispensable need has been fulfilled by the church. I thank all the leaders of the church from the bottom of my heart for this great help.”
