A civic reception in honor of H.H. Moran Mor Samuel Theophilus Metropolitan, was organized by the St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church parish and the citizens of Niranam on Saturday.
Upon his arrival, the Metropolitan was ceremoniously welcomed by a school band. Accompanied by the musical procession, the Metropolitan first paid homage to Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I Metropolitan of blessed memory at the entrance of St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church. Following this, Parish Vicar Fr. Markose Pallikunnel lit a candle and led the Metropolitan into the church. The subsequent public meeting was presided over by H.G. Mathews Mor Silvanus Episcopa of the Thiruvananthapuram Diocese.
Kerala Government Chief Whip Dr. N. Jayaraj inaugurated the public event. Dr. Jayaraj praised the social commitment of the Believers Eastern Church, noting that the services provided by various institutions, including the Believers Eastern Church Medical College Hospital, offer substantial assistance to the needy.
MP Shri. Anto Antony delivered the keynote address. H.G. Geevarghese Mor Coorilos Metropolitan, Adv. Mathew T. Thomas, MLA, and Chief Imam Sahabalath Darimi of Mannar Puthen Palli Jumamasjid spoke on the occasion. Believers Eastern Church Administrator Mr. Jacob Pothen, Certified Chairman Victor T. Thomas, Believers Church Residential School Manager Father Samuel Mathew, DORA Director Father Shiju Mathew, and General Convener Ajay K. Varghese also addressed the gathering. Prominent personalities from political, social, and cultural spheres delivered felicitations.
In his response speech, Metropolitan Moran Mor Dr. Samuel Theophilus thanked the St. Thomas parish and the citizens of Niranam for the warm reception accorded to him and expressed gratitude to those who attended the event despite the adverse weather conditions.
