Believers Church Bhopal Diocese organised a Community Development event on 3rd January 2013 aiming to improve poor living conditions and equip community members to support themselves financially. Goats, piglets, blankets, sewing machines, fishing nets and toilets were among items given to impoverished villagers.
A widow named Rambai was one of the 158 recipients. “It is very hard for me to manage the family,” she said. “I have two children and I have to take care of them.” Though she worked hard to provide education for her children, it was not sufficient. That’s why she was so thankful to receive a goat. “It will help me to increase my income in the days to come,” said Rambai.
Another recipient, Pratibha, got a sewing machine. She and her husband do not earn enough money as daily wage laborers to provide for their family. “Sometimes we face hard times without proper food and clothes, “said Pratibha. “By seeing the condition of my family God has opened the way and has blessed us with a sewing machine. It will be a great help to our family.”
These are just a couple examples of thousands of people who have received hope through Believers Church poverty alleviation project.
