Christmas Cheer for an Impoverished Community

Believers Church Kolkata Diocese held a pre-Christmas event for the community on 20th December 2012. The celebration took place at Abdalpur Children’s Park.

Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan gave a message titled “What is Christmas?” Cultural programs by Minor Seminary and Bridge of Hope students then entertained the guests.

Afterward, two sets of needy community members received gifts. The elderly received blankets to protect them from the cold. And a group of ladies graduating from the Women’s Fellowship tailoring class received sewing machines. This class provides poor women with skills and tools necessary to support themselves.

In closing, the crowd held candles and sang a traditional Christmas carol.

Each year, Believers Church takes Christmas as an opportunity to help poor communities.
