Believers Church Delhi Diocese joined with other Christians from the National Capital Region to interact with Delhi’s Chief Minister, Smt. Sheila Dikshit on 20th October. Christian leaders from all denominations present in Delhi were involved, including the Catholic Church, Church of North India, Methodist Church, Syro-Malabar Church, Syro-Malankara Church, Mar Thoma Church, Orthodox Church, Syrian Church, Baptist Church and Pentecostal Church.
Welcoming all to the simple but a meaningful session, Bishop Dr. Simon John of Believers Church asked both the Christian community and the Chief Minister to use this opportunity to understand each other and arrive at decisions which would benefit the Christian community in particular as well as the general public.
They discussed minority rights, gender violence, education, the allotment of land for Christian burial and other similar issues. The Christian leaders gave suggestions to the Chief Minister in how to improve social conditions in the National Capital Region.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit promised to take their proposals and suggestions seriously and try to implement them as much as possible. She also added some of these things have already been implemented or were under consideration.
The meeting was just one of the many ways that Believers Church has united with others to work for the good of society.
