One of the initiatives taken by Sisters of Compassion from the Diocese of Gujarat in 2014 was to start classes for the children in a slum who were not able to go school. By the beginning of June, 69 children were attending the classes and among them seven children have already learned to write.
The classes provide basic education to the children including reading, writing and mathematics. Their parents could not afford to send their children to school, so the children roamed around the whole day or assisted their parents in work. In this condition, the sisters took the initiative to educate the children. Apart from their normal subjects, the children also learn about basic health and hygiene.
Sisters of Compassion is an order of Believers Church who works to improve the lives of poor and needy.
