From 23rd-26th April 2013, 27 women gathered in Believers Church Chandigarh Diocese to learn how to conduct health and hygiene classes in rural communities. During the inaugural ceremony, chief guest Agnes (nurse) shared from her 25 years of experience in the medical field.
The seminar covered 15 modules, teaching various health topics relating to childcare, pregnancy, early marriage, first aid and more. Participants got chances throughout the training to practically demonstrate what they learned.
The women learned much and were eager to share the information with others. One of them, Madhu, had been planning to arrange the marriage of her 17-year-old daughter. She was thankful for the healthcare training, which helped her to understand the dangers associated with child marriage.
“Now I have decided to arrange marriage for my daughter in her proper age,” Madhu said. “I will also let others know about this fact and everything that I have learned.”
Believers Church Women’s Fellowship is working to educate two million women about basic healthcare in the next two years.
