A Women’s Fellowship team in the Diocese of Mumbai started a new initiative to empower the women in a rural village on 27th July 2014. More than 45 women attended this program and were taught how to make candles.
The women who participated in this program are of a very poor financial background. Their alcoholic husbands made their life more difficult too.
The village head inaugurated the project and in his inaugural speech he said, “This project will become a great success and blessing to the lives of many women in this area.”
Sis. Manjula, a member of Women’s Fellowship, taught the women how to make candles. The participants were so happy and one among them said, “Many of our husbands are addicted to alcohol and they are not taking care of our families properly. But now, through this project, we have become self-sufficient and can meet the needs of our family.”
Believers Church empowers the poor and needy women by giving them skills and education through its vocational training and adult literacy programs.
