In a commendable initiative to promote eye health and ensure proper vision for children, Hope for Children Center at Birtamod recently organized a free eye screening camp with the generous support of Mechi Eye Hospital. The camp aimed to provide free eye check-ups, consultations, and guidance for further treatment, focusing on early detection of eye conditions among the children in the community.
The camp witnessed the participation of 370 individuals, including esteemed guests and 330 beneficiaries. During the screening, children diagnosed with eye allergies received free medication. The hospital extended further support by offering free spectacles to six patients and referring eleven children with serious eye conditions to Mechi Eye Hospital for advanced treatment, all at no cost to the families.
As a gesture of appreciation, the doctors who contributed their invaluable services to the camp were honored with letters of appreciation.
The Deputy Mayor of Birtamod Municipality, Mr. Nagendra Prasad Sangraula, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hope for Children, the dedicated medical team, and the volunteers who contributed tirelessly to the success of the event. He emphasized the importance of good vision for a better quality of life, stating, “This camp has provided many individuals with the opportunity for early detection and treatment of eye conditions. The impact of this effort goes beyond just today; it ensures a healthier and brighter future for many.” He also encouraged beneficiaries to maintain eye health, follow doctors’ advice, and promote awareness about the importance of eye care within their families and communities.
Mrs. Gita Sharma Regmi, Women’s Ward Member of Birtamod Municipality, Ward No. 6, expressed her gratitude, stating, “Many people in our community cannot afford eye check-ups. This initiative was a blessing to all needy children.”
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Shital Dahal, a class 8 student, shared her joy and gratitude. “It was impossible for me to get eye treatment as the cost was too high for my family. But now, I am very happy that through Hope for Children, I got treatment, medicines, and spectacles free of cost,” she expressed.
The successful eye screening camp stands as a testament to Hope for Children’s commitment to holistic care and the well-being of the community’s children, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to essential healthcare services.
