A Bridge of Hope center in Believers Church Kolkata Diocese celebrated the graduation of 14 students from its tailoring course on 8th March 2013. The tailoring center started in August 2012 to help community women supplement their family’s income.
Women came from as far as four or five kilometers to take part in the classes. During the six month course, women learned cutting, stitching, embroidery and more.
One woman said she was glad to complete the course and will now be able to help her family financially. Some of the graduates are even trying to get in touch with small scale industries to find jobs and polish their skill.
The women’s joy was evident as they received their certificates, and they profusely thanked Bridge of Hope and Believers Church for giving them hope and dignity. They felt it was the first time than someone had given them value.
Each of our 525 Bridge of Hope project centers works to develop not only children, but also the surrounding community.
