Believers Church Jasidih Diocese distributed blankets to the needy at the Jasidih Railway Station on 7th January, 2013.
The city had been facing extreme cold for more than two weeks. According to the government, 88 people lost their lives in the 2-6 degree C weather. The poverty of the poor worsened, as they were unable to work to earn money for food.
Seeing their suffering, Believers Church workers went to the railway station to distribute free blankets. They found many people without blankets or warm clothes. One family staying on the platform had six children. For two months, they had been begging for warm clothes, but no one helped them. They had lost hope for their life. “We were about to die,” they said, “but God has sent you to us.”
The diocese plans to distribute blankets to more communities soon, including Dumka, Pakur, Sahebganj and Jamtada.
