In a compassionate gesture on World Leprosy Day, the Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Hubli extended its outreach to a leprosy colony, providing much-needed warmth and support to the marginalized residents.
Facing economic hardships, the lepers in the colony often resort to begging to meet their daily needs. In response, the dedicated team from the Diocese of Hubli visited the colony to make a meaningful impact.
The team distributed blankets to 25 families within the colony, offering not only physical warmth but also breaking through the barriers of stigma and offering solace to those often overlooked by society. Additionally, seven leprosy-affected individuals, who relied on begging along footpaths, were also recipients of the blankets.
Mrs. Bheemakka, one of the recipients, expressed gratitude for the unexpected act of kindness, saying, “We are all rejected from society; some people don’t come here to help or talk with us because we are leprosy patients. But you came forward to help us, and really, we are all blessed by the blankets.”
