Believers Church Diocese of Patna organized an awareness program on the importance of education for women on International Literacy Day, 8th September 2014. The program was organized by Women’s Fellowship members and Sisters of Compassion and over 400 women attended.
Bishop M.A. Lalachan was the chief guest and he addressed the gathering, “Education plays a pivotal role in the progress of our nation, and as a society, it’s our duty to ensure education to every individual.” Also he mentioned the improved rates of literacy in Bihar for the past 10 years and the noticeable growth in women literacy rate which is much ahead of the national average. He also assured them of the help of church in opening new literacy class units there.
Later, Bishop Lalachan distributed 50 literacy books to literacy class students and medicated mosquito nets to 100 women. The beneficiaries thanked the church for organizing such a program there.
Believers Church helps the neglected women in our society to be self-confident and self-sufficient by providing them vocational trainings and literacy classes.
