Believers Church Diocese of Kolkata distributed gifts to 382 people on 8th October 2014. The gifts included 48 sewing machines, 21 goats, 73 tricycles, 71 cows, 208 tin sheet bundles with 14 pieces each, 69 bicycles, two leaf plate making machines, three solar lights and five paddy threshers.
Sri. Sukumar Hansda (Minister of Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs, West Bengal) was the chief guest and spoke to the gathering. He along with Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan and Shri Srikanta Mahata (MLA) inaugurated the program. “Thank you so much for helping the poor and bringing a smile in their faces,” said minister in his speech.
All the recipients were so happy and thanked the church for gifting them these items.
The gifts, provided through the Church’s poverty alleviation project, will give the families a source of income, shelter, warmth, transportation facilities or some help to step out from their extreme level poverty.
