Believers Church Diocese of Kolkata helped flood victims in four different places on 20th July 2015 through relief works.
The flood has destroyed their mud-made houses and belongings. Now, most of them are struggling without a shelter and food. Seeing their need, the church’s social workers and Sisters of Compassion reached to them with help. Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan, Sri. Rofikul Rahman (MLA), Mr. Biswajit Bondhapadhyay (Inspector of Police) and Mr. Jiban Mondal (Panchayat Member) were the chief guests in these programs.
435 families were given tarpaulins, 4,350 kg of rice, 1,335 kg of dhal and over 500 packets of biscuits. Anil Das was one among them. His house was collapsed in the flood and he did not have a place to stay. He thanked the church for gifting him with a tarpaulin, with which he can make a temporary shelter for himself.
