The chief guests for the day were Mrs. Thejesveni Raju (Greater Bengaluru Municipal Corporation Councilor of Horamavu Agara) and her husband Mr. Raju (former panchayat president). The couple was joined by Mr. Suresh (municipal member of the town) and Mr. Stephen Varghese (Indian Justice Party).
Rev. Fr. Sunny Samuel welcomed the guests, presenting each with a garland. The Indian flag was unfurled by Mrs. Thejesveni Raju. The national anthem was then sung in proud to salute the flag.
Mrs. Thejesveni Raju gave a brief speech, challenging the crowd to “remember the sacrifice made by our freedom fighters and to preserve freedom with honesty and truth.”
One Believers Church staff member in attendance later remarked, “When I saw the unfurled tricolor, it reminded me of the significance of the freedom that I inherit and the fundamental right that every citizen possesses. As far as my country is concerned, constitutionally, legally and practically, freedom of expression is a reality…God bless India!”
Believers Church members nationwide celebrated Independence Day with much respect and honor.
