Believers Church Holenarsipura in the Hassan district of Karnataka celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2010 with various programs under the leadership of Rev. Kumar.
The celebration began at the local Bridge of Hope center. The national flag was unfurled by Mr. Lingayya, retired tehsildar of the town. After a proud salute to the flag, Mr. Lingayya gave a brief speech on freedom and its significance. He testified that he was proud to be an Indian.
Later, under the banner of Believers Church Sunday school department, a rally marched through Holenarsipura. The rally was inaugurated by Rev. Kumar, Pr. Lukose (CSI church) and the headmaster of Holenarsipura High School. It was a meaningful time of celebration, and everyone experienced a sense of unity.
Children from the local church and Bridge of Hope center walked through the village holding signs that said, “I love India,” “The future of India is in hands of children,” and “Save the nation today and preserve the future.” Children proudly shouted the slogans. The local people showed their appreciation for the program by waving their hands to the children who walked by.
After the rally through Holenarsipura, the children performed dances, skits and speeches about Independence Day. The Bridge of Hope staff then distributed some school supplies to the BOH students. Approximately 300 villagers and their children watched the program.
The state Sunday school leader said, “Parents met me personally and expressed their love for our Church. They also encouraged us to continue our good work through our Church and Bridge of Hope project.”
