Believers Church Bengaluru Diocese worked with Srinivas Eye Hospital to offer a free eye camp in a village near Bengaluru on 18th October 2009.
Dr. Shirisha Shailaja and Dr. Srinivas checked the eyes of around 60 patients. Believers Church purchased medicine for those who could not afford it and 30 people were advised to undergo operations.
“I am fortunate to attend a camp such as this,” said a patient named Dasappa, “and I am immensely grateful to you, for I would never have had a chance otherwise.” A couple months before, his right eye had been damaged due to a job-related accident in a granite factory. He was unable to afford the spectacles he needed. So he was very thankful when he received free spectacles at the eye camp.
And Dassappa was not the only one. The entire community was happy that the camp was arranged in their village.
Bengaluru is just one of hundreds of South Asian cities that have benefited from Believers Church medical camps.
