On 6 October 2022, Believers Eastern Church Rwanda inaugurated clean water facilities and various community transformation projects in Kigali.
The clean water facilities were inaugurated at Radari and Bamporeze II villages located in Kicukiro district to help residents have access to clean water. The people in these villages previously had to walk long distances to fetch water from the public water taps.
Prinitive Uwineza, one of the beneficiaries, narrated how the lack of clean water in the area would cost them a lot and affect their children’s studies as they had to walk kilometers to get it.
Another beneficiary, Uwineza, said, “We are very happy today because our burden is now relieved. Lack of clean water would cost us a lot of money between Rwf 100 and 200 per jerry can, but we will pay only a coin of Rwf 20 at the new wells. We thank Believers Eastern Church for the relief”.
On the same day, various community beneficial programs were organized by the church, these include:
Providing health insurance: The underprivileged in the community cannot afford to go to the hospital and get medicines when it’s needed as they are too expensive. The church was able to identify the neediest in the community and sponsor health insurance cards for 202 families. This ensures that when they are sick, their expenses will be covered by the insurance sponsored by the church.
Nutritious mix distribution: The poor in the community eat one meal a day, that too many of the children only eat the meal they are provided when they are in school. As the schools were finding it hard to feed the children, The church was able to sponsor a nutritious mix (rice, maize, peanuts, etc.) of 10000 kg to approximately 1000+ children in 42 Early Childhood Development centers.
School supply distribution: Around 250 school going children were able to receive school kits which included a school bag, notebooks, pen and pencils.
