Believers Eastern Church parishes across the globe observed Good Friday with solemn prayers, penance and fasting on 2nd April 2021, commemorating the suffering and crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The parishes held special masses to mark the day observing Covid-19 safety norms. The faithful led by bishops and priests took part in processions bearing wooden crosses, remembering the final hours of Jesus, from His condemnation to His crucifixion on Mount Golgotha.

The ceremony concluded with the drinking of ‘choruka’ (a decoction made of bitter gourd juice and vinegar) by all who attended the mass. This symbolizes the event where Jesus was offered sour wine to drink while dying on the cross.
The 50-day-long fast of the church ends with the Easter Sunday festival which celebrates the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
