The Covid-19 pandemic lockdown has forced people indoors, but the priests and members of Believers Eastern Church parishes are risking it all to help those in need.
The lockdown has resulted in the loss of livelihood for many who worked in the unorganized sector. As the second wave of Covid invades villages, marginalized communities are undergoing severe economic hardship and faced with food insecurity. Believers Eastern Church has been rigorously responding to the crisis, reaching out to the most affected families with life-saving supplies.
Today, a local parish in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Bastar distributed vegetable kits to 70 needy families in the community. The free kit has four essential vegetables and eggs sufficient for a family for at least six days.
A parish in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Delhi distributed dry rations to the most affected families on 18 May 2021. Each family received a week’s worth of basic food essentials like rice, dal, salt, sugar and oil.
In Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Dehradun, dry ration kits were distributed to families who have lost their livelihood due to lockdown.
