Believers Eastern Church opened a new chapter in its history on 13th July, as the Diocese of Rwanda held it’s first-ever VBS in the African continent. As the team expected and prayed for, around 300 children enrolled for the program.
The program was inaugurated by H.G Isac Mor Stephanose Episcopa, Diocesan Bishop. The Diocesan team coordinated the VBS with the help of few parents and youth from the local Church, who eagerly volunteered to make the program a success. The Vacation Bible School was a three day event (13-15th July), for children between the ages of 5-15. Various action songs, lessons and related activities helped to plant seeds of God’s love among them.
The lessons and stories of Saints which were taught as per the curriculum of the Sunday school department encouraged the children to live a life pleasing to God, and one that cares for the community around them. Each day’s program ended with a short prayer of commitment. The children were also given a snack before they left for their homes.
The VBS concluded with an awards ceremony where few children were awarded with special prizes for their outstanding performance and participation during the three days. All students were awarded a certificate and given a prize for their encouragement.
Feedback received from children:
One child said, “I will try to be honest with everyone from now on”. “I have made a decision to pray before I do something,” said another participant.
