On 5 April 2020 Believers Eastern Church held food and relief supply distributions across its dioceses to ensure that the poor and the families of daily wage workers don’t go without food during the lockdown.
Diocese of Amritsar held food distributions at three different slums and served freshly cooked meals to 200 needy people who have been badly affected by the lockdown.
In Diocese of Sarguja priest and believers of one of our parishes provided food and essential commodities to 40 labourers who were stranded due to the lockdown and now staying at a community hall and school. Former MLA, Mrs. Champa Devi and panchayat Sarpanch and Secretary were present during the distribution and they appreciated the church for the noble initiative.
Diocese of Tirunelveli distributed cooked food, vegetable kits, and face masks among 100 families.
Diocese of Tinsukia distributed dry ration items and vegetables to 50 needy families.
Diocese of Dehradun provided groceries to needy families and food packets to 100 people.
Diocese of Jharsuguda provided essential commodities to 30 families.
Diocese of Jasidih distributed grocery items to a Food Grain Bank to feed the needy during the lockdown.
Two parishes in Diocese of Vizag Diocese distributed fresh vegetables to 150 families.
A parish in Diocese of Nagpur provided dry ration kits to the poor and needy for two consequent days. Another parish helped more than 25 needy families with dry ration kits.
Parishes in Diocese of Patna helped needy families with dry rations and vegetables.
Parishes in Diocese of Bastar reached out to covid-hit families with dry rations and vegetables.
The distributions were done with the approval from local government administrations and safety protocols like social distancing were followed during the distributions.
