Believers Eastern Church Dioceses Mark Athanasius Yohan I Metropolitan’s Birthday and International Women’s Day with Social Welfare Programs

8 March 2023 was a momentous day as far as Believers Eastern Church dioceses were concerned as they carried out an array of social welfare programs in honor of the birthday of Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I Metropolitan and also the International Women’s Day.

Parishes in each diocese reached out to hundreds of poor and needy people with food and essential items and brought smile on their faces on this day.

The priests and faithful prayed for the good health and long life of honorable Metropolitan.

Here are few glimpses from the day:

In Diocese of Ranchi, food packets were distributed to 100 needy families in a leprosy colony, bed sheets were distributed to 30 destitute women, dress and towels distributed to 25 widows.

Diocese of Chandigarh distributed food to needy children and their families.

Diocese of Hyderabad celebrated this day with cake cutting, and distributing a one-time meal to slum children. A total of 70 children and 30 adults from this slum received delicious meal. Similar food distribution events were organized by many local parishes in Hyderabad Diocese.

Diocese of Chennai distributed food packets and clothes to needy people in society. Many churches took initiative to conduct programs aimed at women empowerment.

Diocese of Vijayawada , Ongole and Guntur Mission Provinces organized food, cloth and fruit distributions at various places. A total of 370 people received warm meals, 40 people received clothes and fruits were distributed to 250 people.

In Diocese of Tinsukia sarees and mosquito nets were distributed to 25 needy women.

A Hope for Children center in Diocese of Nagpur organized a science exhibition for children.

A women’s fellowship team in Diocese of Banswara started an adult literacy class to help illiterate women in a slum learn how to read and write.

Diocese of Hubli helped poor children with cloths and distributed sarees to needy Women.

Solan Mission Province celebrated the day with cake cutting.

One of the local parishes in Raipur Diocese distributed dresses to fifteen women.

Parishes in Diocese of Trichy distributed food and clothes to people at an old age home, at railway station and to people living rough on the streets.
