Believers Church Uttarakhand held a poverty alleviation program on 4th March 2013. 360 families received gifts such as sewing machines, mason tools, carpentry tools, rickshaws, blankets and bicycles.
“I have seen for the first time in my life,” said special guest Smt. Munish Kumari (gram panchayat ward member), “that the church is focusing on the life of needy people and providing them a means to generate their income. I pray that God would bless this church and through it many people will be blessed.”
Community members were so happy to receive gifts from the church. Kalpana is studying for her B.A. “My college is far from my village and due to that I was not able to go regularly,” she said. “I had to pay Rs. 20 for travel for a day, but when there is no money I would not go to college. But now I thank the Lord for providing me a cycle from the church. Now I can every day go to my college and study.”
A tailor named Mohammad received a sewing machine. Before, he had to work with someone else since he did not have a sewing machine of his own. Now he says, “I am grateful to the church for providing me a sewing machine. Now I can work peacefully and also look after my family. I am really happy to receive this.” There was a smile on his face.
