Believers Church Sikkim conducted an income-generating gift distribution program on 15th February 2015. 52 families were given with gifts like tin-sheets, cows, goats, piglets, momos vessels, carpentry tools and sewing machines.
These families live in a hill village. A majority of the villagers here are unemployed. So, the church distributed these gifts to help some families find a way to make an income. Mr. Dawa Lepcha (MLA) inaugurated the program and distributed the items to each beneficiary.
“This is really a huge gift for me and my family,” said Dipesh Rai, a beneficiary. “I wanted to buy a cow, but I didn’t have sufficient money to afford one. So, I am very happy to receive this gift and I will never forget your help.”
Through its Poverty Alleviation Project, Believers Church helps thousands of families each year to break the cycle of poverty by helping them to become self-supporting.
