Heavy rains over the past three days have caused widespread damage across Sri Lanka. Nearly 40 people have been killed and over 350,000 people are now homeless after the flash floods and landslides that followed the incessant rains. Though relief works have started already, submerged transportation facilities are making it difficult to carry out effectively.
Despite the poor transportation facilities and bad weather, Believers Church was able reach out to 465 families in two flood hit villages in Colombo District.
On 17th May 2016, the church distributed dry rations and other essential supplies like rice bag, dhal, sugar, wheat flour, salt, chili powder, curry powder, milk powder, salmon can, candles and matchbox to 65 families in one village.
The same day, the church was able to provide food packets to 400 people in another village.
The recipients were happy to receive the relief supplies and thanked the church for providing it.
