Believers Church Diocese of Mumbai installed a new bore well in a drought-hit tribal village on 12th February 2016.
Many villages in the state of Maharashtra are facing a severe drought due to the less rainfall. This village also was one among them. The only water source of the villagers was a river, which is two kilometers away from their village. But, this river would dry up during summer and at those times, they used to struggle a lot. Realizing their need for a constant water source, the church installed this well.
Now, more than 25 families are fetching water from this well every day. Apart from them, the staffs and students of the local government school also are depending on this well for their daily needs. “We no longer are worried about collecting water during summer,” said one beneficiary happily. “We have plenty of water available all the time.”
Believers Church provides access to safe drinking water to water lacking communities through its Clean Water project.
