Believers Church Diocese of Bhubaneswar dedicated 17 newly constructed houses to Cyclone Phailin victims in two places on 29th and 30th of December 2015.
The cyclone hit coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on 12th October 2013. It caused huge damage in the lives of hundreds of thousands people, wiping out their shelter and means of livelihood completely. Though months and years have passed, many of them are still struggling to lead a normal life as they have not been able to reconstruct a shelter. So, the church decided help 300 neediest families among them by constructing new houses for them.
Mr. Sudam Marandi (Minister of Tribal Welfare, Sports and Youth Services), Mr. Sananda Marandi (Deputy Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly) and Mr. Bhadav Hansdah (MLA) were the chief guests in these programs. They appreciated the church for talking this effort to help the victims and then handed over the keys to each beneficiary.
All the families entered to their new house with great joy and thanked the church and leaders for constructing it freely for them.
Believers Church will dedicate 300 brick homes for cyclone victims through its Cyclone Phailin Rehabilitation Project.
