Joining the fight against hunger, Believers Eastern Church took to streets to feed the hungry and needy on World Food Day, 16th October 2017.
In commemoration of this day, Believers Eastern Church distributed food to the beggars, homeless, orphans, widows, the elderly, the disabled and the children found on the streets and at railway stations. The food distribution drives held across the nation saw thousands of poor and hungry receiving delicious meals with joy to satiate their hunger.
Several dioceses also contributed to helping the hungry by donating food packets at various other locations such as:
Believers Eastern Church Dioceses of Jammu, Dehradun, Chakradharpur, Patna and Gurdaspur distributed cooked meals to hundreds of people in leprosy colonies. To mark the day, Diocese of Delhi donated provision items to 35 leprosy-affected families.
While Dioceses of Gorakhpur, Delhi, Gulbarga, Solan went to various slum areas and distributed fresh meals, fruits, snack items to slum dwellers including children, Dioceses of Diburgarh and Jorhat distributed meals to tea garden workers.
Dioceses of Vyara, Sarguja, Jorhat distributed nutritious and healthy meals, fruit packets to underprivileged patients in hospitals on the occasion.
In celebration of this day, Dioceses of Diphu and Chennai held food distribution programs at two villages where they distributed dry rations to poor families including widows who struggle daily to put food on the table. To do its bit to feed the hungry, the diocese of Agartala served fresh meals to more than 160 people in an impoverished village located on a hill.
Through the distributions Believers Eastern Church could bring awareness among local people about the importance of sharing food and about their social responsibility towards feeding the needy.
Believers Eastern Church uses every occasion such as this to reach out to the poor and needy and bring about a difference in their lives. Through its poverty alleviation projects the church has helped thousands escape poverty and contributed to eradicating poverty in rural areas.
